In one of my many swap we were supposed to find a toy and redo it for our partner.
Well my partner has a 4 year daughter that wanted a princess doll so I made her one.
Well my partner Melissa knew I liked the goth, creepy, spooky type of stuff so she made me the most wonderful doll.
And not only did she make the great doll but she also made a black cat toy to go with the doll and a black cat necklace that she is wearing.

Princess doll

Well I bought this ugly doll to make over for a swap. The mother signed up for the swap and wanted to toy I was to make for her daughter.
Well this is how the doll started

She was bought at a consignment store and was in awful shape.Her hair was pulled into 2 pony tails, her face, legs and arms had crayon marks on them and her clothes were just UGLY lol

So I took her hair off, washed and dryed it, cleaned up her body, threw out the old clothes and fixed her up.I wish I had taken more pics of the during part but, all I have is a web cam so you can see the pics are not that good.The puppy was a victoria secret Christmas dog. So it had a ribbion around its neck that said victoria's secret and a santa hat on.

Well the doll dress I crocheted (just making up as I went along) her shoes are slippers made from some foam sheets I had in the craft room. Her crown and the dogs collar are jewelery wire with plastic clear star shaped beads on them.her hair (sfter being washed and dried) was just brushed and styled into a curly ponytail with a bow.

Now this is the little girl Crystal and her new princess doll that she has named Princess Sahar Grace and the pupy.

Well I live for going to the thrift stores and, I have seen so many people making purses out of hard back books that I had to try it.The book was a .25 cent copy of John Jakes Love and War

After I gutted it I thought I might keep the inside covers as they were becasue the paper was a neat map of the south (including Mississippi)

Well about an hour later, 4 hot glue sticks, a burnt finger, and a couple of blisters i decided that I had screwed up the inside paper soo much that I better cover it with fabric.So I took some old canvas type fabric I had that use to cover the inside of a storage basket and hacked away at it until I got it the way I wanted

Then after a few more hot glue sticks and adding a few embelleshments from the craft basket I have a purse...

I even cut the handles from the canvas scraps and the tie that goes aroung the little tassle came from one of the ties that held the canvas in the basket.I am not really happy with the out come but, my daughter (age 8 ) loves it and I will get better as I make more I am sure.

Here I sit watching CSI, kids are in bed, Adam is at work, and I have no life so I am blogging....
I need to be crocheting and saving some of my pics here.
I also should be cleaning the house but I have not done it yet.
Instead I am ponderring the questions of life...like why does the inside of someones belly button stink...why do I suck at golf...why haven't I won the lottery...will gas prices ever come down...

This will be a short post. I started new meds tonight so they are knocking me on my butt. :P
But I wanted to show off the sunflower dish towel topper I made.
This will wrap 13 crochet ST mother's day exchange to Maggie.
I am running behind on getting all of the exchanges done becasue of this cruddy UTI.
So I will be humpin' it trying to get the last few out this week so they will not be too late.

We move the living room into the toy room and made the living room into the toy room. Or is that the toy room is still the toy room but it now has a couch in it? Or is the living room still the living room it just now is full of toys? What ever...we swaped rooms between the living room and the toy room 8D
When we did this we moved the fish to her own table near the computer so I thought who better to be in all of my pics but her.

Been a few days hasn' t it?

Well been busy with moving around furniture, kin folks visiting, Easter and all of the normal things that seem to eat away all your free time.
But tonight I feel will be one of the multi post nights as I plan on catching up on some quality time with the TV and some crocheting.
Right this second I am watching CSI (Las Vegas)and making 12 inch squares for Moomscapes exchange and PnP Kindness cupboard.
I will post some pics when I finish Beth's maroon and off white squares in a few.

Not much done today

I did not crochet much today but I did clean some...
I have to get this house clean before my nephew and his wife come over for Easter.
They will be here Saturday ad will need a place to sleep so I have got to get daughters room clean and that will be a living HELL.
I don't know if it is all 7 year old or all girls but....she changes clothes like crazy and then just throws them all in the floor. And toys,....don't even get me started on all the toys!
Any way...I have got to finish cleaning my house. So today I cleaned did laundry and got a few swaps packaged up and ready to send tomorrow.
Well right now my comforter is in the dryer and I have one more box to package up.
So off I go.
Where did I put my tape?????

Bunny towel ring

Well been working on exchanges again and I have finished a bunny towel ring for KnB Easter exchange.
So now I can package this up and mail it out tomorrow and be finished with that list.
I found some of the cutest spun sugar eggs at wal-mart to send as happies with my Easter swaps.
They are almost too cute to eat but, I will leave that to the person who recieves them to decide.
I am gonna snap pics off all of the Eater exchanges to send just cuz lol

Well after looking at all the exchanges I have due I figured I better get to work.
So I sat here just now watching TV and made 2 7 inch squares and 2 fridgies that go to Andrea in Kitchen N Bath and packaged them up to go in the mail tomorrow.
So I will do the Easter theam exchange for that same group tomorrow and be able to check them off my list.
Now to go look at patterns for something neat to make for Easter.

Been a bum today

I did not do much of anything today crochet wise but the night is still young :P
Last night I did make 2 7 inch squares and some fridgies for an exchange but nothing special.
I need to be working on other exchanges and add some more rows to my charity ghan but MAN I just don't feel like tackeling anything too big tonight.
I have to got o bed early cuz maw-in-law wants to go shoppong for summer clothes for the kids.
And I have to go buy Easter basket goodies.
So I guess I will check back intomorrow and hope to have more done.

Soap dog

Well I only got 5 rows done on the charity ghan today because I was making stuff for an exchange that goes out on Thursday.
So I have to post a pic here of the dog :P
It is made around a bar of ivory soap so it smells good lol
The lady I am sending it to has a white poodle so I hope she likes it.

Charity ghan

Well I added 10 more rows to the charity V and shell stitch afghan I am working on.
I figured I better add here WHY I am making the "charity" ghan.
I help teach a group of 7 girls ages 7-11 how to sew, quilt and crochet. Sometimes I even have a few older sisters, mom and once a grandmother lol
But anyway, the lady that actually started the class asked around of her friends and people at her church for donations of craft supplies. Well she was given a huge box of odds and ends of yarn.
She in turn gave it all to me to see if any of it can be used for the girls in the class. Welli pulled out all of the good colors that I thoughtthe girls might like and all the rest I put in a different box. After looking at all the colors I had left I thought that with the varigateds and the solids that I could put them together and make a nice size lag ghan or throw.
Well I spoke with Karen( the lady who started the class) and asked her if she could do something with the ghan if I made it. After asking around again she will be allowed to raffel it off at her church and give the money to one of the youth groups.
So there ya go...
In this class the girls have been making hats and scarves for the local childrens cancer hospital.
I think that what ever yarn is left after the girls get done with it I will try to make up some bears or toys of some sort for the clinic waiting rooms.
They have to be something that can be washed often, or sprayed with lysol so I will have to put some thought into what to make.
Or maybe I can make up a bunch of the butterfly fridgies and let them hang them from the celing for looks.
I am sure I will thinkof something. I always do :D

CATFISH YUM!!!!

Well hubby just came home from juggin' so I will now have a freezer full of catfish.
Juggin' for those of you that may not know, is where you will take any empty jug etc(he uses empty 2 liter coke bottles) and tie a length of nylon fidhing line on it with a hook and bait.
You then throw it in the water and wait. When a fish takes the bait it will pull the jug under then of course it will pop back up. You then go take the fish off and TAA DAA you have catfish for dinner. :P
So since it is 3:12 am now it looks like I will be cleaning, fileting, and cooking catfish tomorrow.
YUMMY!!!
This pic is one of the bigger ones he caught and we are just guessing saying it is between 15 to 20 pounds

Trinket bunny box

OK, here I go hoping to write out the pattern for the bunny trinket box I have been making for a lot of my Easter exchanges in my yahoo groups.
If there are any mistakes I am sorry, I am not good with writing things down as I go so I am trying to thinkof this in my head as I go here.
OK lets see.....

1st you will need what ever color yarn you plan on using.
I use WW red heart and for this bunny I used white for the out side and pink for the inside.
You will also need a tuna size can (I use cat food cans since I have a amle supply of them thanks to Gary and Pooky) I take off the wrapper and run them through the dish waser 1st so they will not be nasty .
You will also need a small piece of cardboard or something to that effect to cut into a circle. This will go in the lid to make it stiff ( I will explain when we get to that part.)
Also if you plan on makeing this into a bunny or any other kind of animal you will need all fo the goodies to do this (we will go into that later too)
MAKE SURE TO COUNT YOUR STITCHES
This will be very important to make sure that all the parts match up when you get ready to stitch it together

I use a H hook but you can use what ever size you want to to get your size right.
I made the outside in white
This is worked in rounds
This is for the outside covering of the can
CH 4 join with sl st to make a ring
RD 1)15 DC in ring join with slip stitch to 1st DC ch 3
RD 2) DC in same sp as ch3, dc in next dc, *2 DC in next DC, 1 DC in next DC around join with slip stitch to top of 1st chain 3 (23 DCs) ch 3
RD 3) DC in same sp as ch 3, dc in next DC ,* 2 DC in next DC, 1 DC in next DC around join with slip st to top of 1st ch 3 (35 DC)
Note: here is where I check to make sure that this will cover the bottem on my tuna can.
If it does not you can repeat another round in the same fasion as above but I would do that round in HDC becasue a DC would make it too big.
RD 4) WORKING IN BACK LOOPS OF RD3
DC in next st and in all stitches around join with sl st to top of ch 3 (35 DCs) ch 3
RD 5 and 6) Repeat round 4
NOTE: Here is where I check to see it it will cover the sides of my tuna can with just about half of the last round showing over the top of rim so that inside can be stitched to it
If it does not cover the sides add another round until it does.
Fasten off when you have the right fit

Now for the inside make with what ever color you choose I used pink
Repeat as above until you get to round 4 work it in FRONT loops checking often to make sure it is fitting snugly into the can.
When you have the right fit you are ready to put the out side and the inside together with the can in the middle so DO NOT FASTEN OFF

NOTE: If you want to make this into a critter of what ever sort you will want to add the eyes, nose mouth etc now before you put the 2 peices together (Trust me it is just easier that way)
For the bunny that is in the pic I used 2 black pony beads stitched on with black thread for the eyes. A pink bead for the nose and for the wiskers I cut 2 lenghts of black yarn that I folded in half and attached for the wiskers. You know what works best for you so you will know best how you can make the face.

Once you have the 2 parts finished and put on the can you are ready to stitch then together
I line up the beginning chains and the stitch together with the yarn that is still attatched to the inside with a slip stitch
Go through both loops on the inside part and both loops on the outside part when you have them stitched together fasten off and weave in the ends.

For the lid:
Make 2 of these one with inside color and one with outside color
ch 4 join with sl st to form a ring
RD 1) 15 DC in ring join with sl st to top of beg DC ch3
RD 2) DC in same sp as chain 3, dc in next st *2 DC in next DC 1 DC in next DC around
Join with sl st to top of 1st CH3 (23 DCs) CH 3
RD 3) DC in same sp as ch 3, dc in next dc * 2 Dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc around Join with sl st to top of 1st ch 3 (35 DCs) FASTEN OFF PIECE MADE WITH OUTSIDE COLOR BUT NOT THE PIECE MADE WITH INSIDE COLOR

Here is where I made and attatched the bunnies ears
It is easier to do before you stitch the 2 peices together
For the ears I just kinda frogged them. I will write out here how I did it but if you find something better please go with that.

EARS (Make 2)
Ch 10
DC in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across (7 DCS) Ch 3 turn
Repeat for 3 more rows
next row DC in 1st st then dec dc over next 2 DCs 2 times then DC in last st
Next row DC in 1st st dec DC over nect 2 DCs DC in last stitch
Then SC evenly around to give them a finished edge
I then cut 2 pieces of pink fabric or felt and hot glued to ears to make the pink "inside"
The hot glue helps to make them kinda stiff so they will stand up but if they do not you can add a white pipe cleaner (I run it through the stitches on the back of the pink fabric)

Now get your small piece of card board
Cut into a circle that will fit inbetween the 2 pieces that you just made then line up the stitches and stitch together like you did the 2 pieces for the inside and out side of the can

OK you should now have a trinket box
I have made these into pumpkins by making them orange and adding cut out pieces of black felt of jack o lantern face
I have made them plain and just added a shell stitch around the edge of the lid and a pretty button to the middle of the top of lid for a knob like handle

So there ya go!
Good luck in making these and I hope I wrote it out correctly and so you can understand it
If not please let me know and I will fix as best I can.

Working on charity ghan

Well I am working on a afghan that I am gonna call the Charity V and Shell Stitch Afghan.
If I can figure out how to put pic here I will add them so I can help myself keep up with how long this is taking to make.
But right now I am 10 rows into it and now sure how many rows it will be.
I will just go till I run out of all the yarn I have picked out to go in it. I have like 7 skeens so this may take a while lol
here is the pattern so far. I kinda made it up and it turned out really well.

Charity V and Shell Stitch Afghan

Chain 163

ROW 1: Work shell in 5th stitch from hook * Skip 2 chains work V stitch in next chain, skip 2 chains work shell in next stitch Repeat from * across
End by skipping 1 chain and DC in last chain, chian 3 turn

ROW 2: Work V stitch in center DC of 1st shell stitch *Shell st in ch 1 space if next V stsitch, V stitch in center DC of next shell Repeat from *across end with DC in last CH of turning chain Chain 3 turn

ROW 3: Work Shell stitch in ch 1 sp of 1st V stitch * V st in center DC of next shell st, shell st in ch 1 sp of next V st. Repeat from * across End with DC in last ch of turning ch Ch 3 turn

Then repeat these rows until desired length (or in my case until you run out of yarn)

It is working really fast and I am getting caught up on my TV watching while I am making it.
So I will run off now and snap a pic to see if I can figure out how to add it here.
I will try and do this every day but, I can't promise you anything :P

Well this will be my 1st ever attempt at a BLOG
Blog sounds like such a nasty word...like something you cough up when you have a cold :P
Any way...
I was turned on to this blog thing because I needed a place to write down crochet patterns so I can share them with my Yahoo crochet groups. So as I think of them or make them I will be putting them here with pics and sharing.
That is to say, when I have time and the kids are in bed, and I have shoved hubby out the door to work, and it is quite so I can think.
